Vaginal odor, usually described as a "fishy" odor and foul smell typically results from an overabundance of organisms that are already present in your vagina. Practice good feminine hygiene by washing your outside genital area. When taking a shower or bath, be sure to use a lot of water and a very tiny amount of unscented and mild soap.

Do not douche. Even healthy vaginas contain various organisms and bacteria. Usually, the average acidity of the vagina can keep yeast and bacteria at bay. However, douching will upset this delicate and normal balance.
